About Linux
Linux is a free operating system for various computer architectures. It is run on many different types of computers, from mainframes to embedded appliances, as well as the personal computer (PC).
Linux was first developed by Linus Torvalds in Finland. He wanted to create operating system that worked like for his 386 PC.
Linux is an open source operating system, which means the code to the operating system can be viewed and modified by anyone. This has taken Linux from its humble beginnings as a one man project, to an operating system contributed to by thousands and used by millions.
